The Feeling 286 Special is a fast, comfortable, attractive family cruiser with an innovative design that was well ahead of its time. The light and airy main saloon seats up to 8 around the central table. The spacious quarter cabin has good headroom and features an extra large double berth. There is a further child's berth in the forepeak (which could be converted back to the original 2 berth format, if required) and two full length berths in the saloon. The galley has a gimballed cooker with oven and a fridge with ice box. The spacious heads has an electric toilet, wash basin with shower tap and an open wet locker. There is also a dedicated chart table with its own navigators seat. There is excellent stowage throughout.
All this accommodation does not compromise performance due to the yacht’s ingenious design for weight distribution and increased stability. This, plus new sails (2022) and a folding propeller give her a sparkling performance under sail. She is well equipped for Mediterranean sailing with good anchoring equipment, safety gear, electronic chart plotter, autopilot, 230volt systems, solar panels, etc, etc. She also has an inflatable dinghy, a spray hood and a custom designed Bimini top with additional panels for full protection from the sun. Perfect for 4 adults or a cruising family who enjoy good sailing.
Note that the boat has a document to prove that it was located in the EU at the end of the Brexit Transition Period. This permits a boat to maintain its ‘Union Goods Status’ allowing it to cruise in EU territorial waters indefinitely without being subject to customs procedures.

- The accommodation comprises a large airy saloon with seating for 8 around a dining table with 2 folding leaves and a forward opening hatch overhead to provide light and ventilation. The table has a storage area for plates and bowls and there is additional storage around the seating area. The seating also provides 2 additional full length berths.
- Aft of the saloon to port is the navigation station with its own navigator’s seat and chart table, instrument panel and electronics. There is storage in and under the chart table and under the navigators seat.
- Aft to starboard is the galley with sink with foot-pumped fresh water, fridge with ice tray, cooker with oven and several lockers and shelves for storage.
- Aft of the galley is the toilet with electric pumped sea-toilet, wash hand basin with shower-head tap, shower-proof toilet roll holder, and a wet hanging area. It is lit by a curtained side deck window and a small opening overhead hatch which provides ventilation. The sole drains into the bilges.
- Aft of the navigation station is the after cabin. This is unusually large and spacious for a boat of this size, with good standing headroom at the cabin entrance and good ‘knee room’ under the cockpit; and it is well lit by a hull port, a curtained window in the side deck and a small opening overhead hatch. There is good storage in a hanging locker, several shelves and coat hook; and it has a 12v fan for additional ventilation.
- Forward of the saloon is the forepeak separated from the saloon by a cut-away bulkhead and a curtain. This has an athwartships berth, and a large triangular storage locker forward. This arrangement was fitted by a previous owner to provide additional storage but could easily be converted back to the original configuration, a large triangular double berth, which would restore the yachts original 6 berth specification. It has its own forward opening overhead hatch for ventilation.

Alternator, exhaust elbow and raw water pump/impeller have all been replaced.
The engine is located in a moulded pod in the centre of the yacht under the saloon table. This has two advantages.
First, the weight of the engine in the centre of the yacht increases stability permitting a lighter overall displacement and better sailing characteristics.
Secondly, the saloon table and pod can be completely removed giving unrivalled access to the engine (see photo).
Note that when the engine is running a fan continuously draws air out of the engine compartment eliminating any engine odours in the saloon.
