This 1981 Colvic Northener is a sturdy heavy displacement, well equipped, single screw diesel motor cruiser. She has attractive classic lines with a safe, deep cockpit and wheelhouse. She has been extremely well constructed using the best of marine materials i.e. 1066 marine grade ply, phosphor bronze fastenings and purpose designed and cast deck fittings. She is in a very good seaworthy condition.
Her 4 berth two cabin layout with a dinette galley arrangement amidships, a separate Jabsco head, Propex gas heater and cockpit awning make her a very comfortable boat and ideal for cruising rivers, estuaries and coastal waters. She is an ideal liveaboard boat and
She has a regularly serviced, very reliable, 38 hp 3JH2E Yanmar diesel engine which runs through an Aquadrive to a 3 bladed bronze propeller and stern gear. The auxiliary is a Yamaha 8hp outboard. Her 100ltr stainless steel fuel tank is well serviced with easy to access filters etc. She carries 30ltrs of fresh water in a grp tank.
This boat has a draft of only 0.75mtrs making her ideal for exploring rivers and tributaries and with her 3 keels this boat can safely dry out making it ideal for exploring tidal creeks — great for bird and wildlife watching. With an electrical system serviced by a 100watt purpose fitted solar panel, it’s possible to comfortably hide away up a river for as long as the food and water lasts.
Over the years my wife and I have loved and cared for Northstar and we have had great fun exploring the rivers and coastal waters along the south coast of Cornwall.
