Holy Loch Clyde Argyll and Bute UK
Stroma A is an ex Aberdeen Pilot vessel . Constructed in 1980 by Jones of Buckie to a G.L. Watson design . Massively constructed of Larch on sawn Oak frames she is a fresh as fresh can be .
Gardner 8 LX (172HP ) engine is both powerful and economical she runs very frugally at 7 or so knots - and can be pushed to around 10 knots.
Accommodation consists of : Large wheelhouse with almost 360 degree vision , a good galley, saloon in Burr Walnut laminate -shower and electric loo, a forepeak store is separated from the saloon by a collision bulkhead . Aft of the saloon is the walk in engineroom - access is first class and to appreciators of engineering excellence it is a very nice place to be.
Equipment is listed below, needless to say she lacks very little , We have used her to dive from in the upper Firth of Clyde and although never venturing far found her admirable and totally reliable , She was coded SCVC cat 3 until August 2018.
Slipped for Anodes and paint in September 2018 she is ready for her next owner.

Gardner 8LX naturally aspirated diesel coupled to a twin disc gearbox . Dry exhaust , Gill ejector bilge pump to all compartments driven from main engine. Twin diesel tanks feed a day tank through Racor filters . The vessel is 24 volts -charging is through a very recent smart charger and the engine alternator -an automatic voltage sensing charge splitter ensuring operating the boat is kept simple - there are battery combiner switches should the need arise . New 24 volt engine room fans fitted July 2019.
Stroma has a hydraulically driven Bow Thruster , and anchor windlass - both are controlled from the helm - the windlass has a warping drum as well as the chain gypsy- the main anchor is a 60 lb CQR
There are 2 VHF's one being DSC , Furuno GPS, Furuno Autopilot, Furuno Colour Plotter, Furuno Colour sounder, Furuno Radar,
the compass is Sestrel .
The galley contains the Plastimo 2500 (2 burners, oven and grill,) there is an elderly but working countertop fridge and a working microwave
the mixer tap is over the main sink and small sink and worktop. there are plentifull drawers and storage .
The toilet is electric , relatively recent and discharges directly overboard -within the compartment is a sink and shower .
AC power was delivered by an air cooled diesel generator situated in the engine room -this supplied power to the battery charger, electric heaters and the hot water element. The generator has failed and is now removed - you the new owner should decide whether to replace with a similar unit to that which was fitted or go to a more silent water cooled generator- the old units exhaust and fuel supply remain in place as is the flat steel bedplate to which almost anything could be easily bolted.- this subject is something we feel could be discussed although it is our wish to sell the good ship "as is where is"
Hopefully the photographs answer most questions but please do not hesitate to ask for further details .
