Our Mary is a 68ft Semi Trad Narrow Boat lovingly restored by a family team to create a unique live-aboard experience. Completely re-fitted and architecturally designed, the vessel boasts reclaimed 1 inch-thick hardwood parquet flooring throughout, 3 inch solid oak kitchen worktops, distinctive low-energy LED lighting and many uniquely crafted and hand made design features.
She is fitted with central heating powered by a combi-boiler, which also provides instant hot water to the glazed quadrant shower in the fully tiled bathroom. The heating is also supplemented by a multi-fuel stove in an oak fire place at the heart of the boat.
Starting from the stern of the boat there is a study with a full-length removable oak table, a wardrobe for coats and full length mirror. This room acts as a convenient entrance space, ancillary storage and possible utilities room while being large enough to be converted into a second bedroom if required, as it has been used in the past. The engine control panel, solar and battery management systems are also located here.
A corridor leads past the bathroom with its sink, towel rail, custom built stone based shower and pump-out toilet with a large capacity, externally ventilated, holding tank.
The large galley kitchen has an XL double Belfast sink set into extraordinary 70mm hardwood worktops, a copper mixer tap and a Hotpoint stove. Distinctive metro tiling runs the length of the kitchen with a 6ft continuous solid oak work surface on the other side, providing a breakfast bar and reclaimed crate shelving beneath. Above this there are large mid-ship pan doors and roof hatch, providing a wonderful alfresco cooking experience or, as previously used as a shop front, a possible commercial outlet onto the towpath.
The dining space, at the centre of the boat, has adjustable copper pendant lighting above a long oak table (to be included in purchase if required) and book shelves recessed under the gunnels either side.
The sitting room has a 10k/w multi-fuel stove set in an oak surround, tiled fire place with a slate base and a small hatch set adjacently for ventilation and the passing of fuel. Opposite there are sockets for the installation of a TV. A full length, recessed book case comprises the rear wall of the seating area, with room for artwork built in.
Towards the front of the boat is the bedroom with a side-opening ottoman bed with a large capacity for storage below. There are oak shelves above and adjacent to the bed and a small dressing table at the foot. Two wardrobes sit either side of the front pan doors with additional shelving. The curtains (throughout Mary) are blackout, thermally insulating blinds made from military blankets with leather detailing.
Hardwood steps lead up to a timber decked front deck with patio furniture (to be included in purchase if required) and a long bench beneath a 4 cylinder gas hatch below. At the prow is the recently re-furbished water tank.
Our Mary has been a fantastic project and home for two brothers, who are now keen to see it become a similarly treasured home for new owners.
