We are selling our 70ft semi-traditional narrowboat built by Evans & Son 2001. At the moment moored in London, N1. (See below for mooring information.)
Since 2012 the boat has been a magical, unique experience for us, our family and friends. Now that we're heading in to the retirement-age zone, it's time to move on and pass it to the next owner.
70ft is max. length for a boat of this type, which makes for easy living. In the current configuration the boat can sleep 5 people, (incl. the dining room converts into a double bed) in two double beds and a single.
Bathroom with basin, toilet and high pressure hot shower.
Pressurised hot and cold running water to bathroom and kitchen.
Kitchen hob runs on gas, there are plug outlets through the boat and endless storage. The kitchen has an under-counter fridge, is piped for a gas oven, and has double doors either side that open up for summertime cooking.
The sitting room is spacious - approximately a quarter of the boat - and could be well reconfigured to include a breakfast bar / dining space. The current dining space can take 4+ comfortably, and sits between the kitchen and the single bedroom. During the day we tend to use the table for work, and it also folds down to become another comfortable guest bed.
Defra-compliant Salamander wood-burner and insulated flue fitted recently. Wood panelled interior means it is quick to warm up and holds the warmth well.
It has been well-looked after and we have kept all the invoices/paperwork for all the maintenance and work done, back to when it was built in 2001.
Notable maintenance and performance details:
Blacked 2023.
BSS to Dec 2027.
New rear tarpaulin (cratch cover) 2022.
Engine model: BV1505/WW3778, Beta Marine Diesel
Hull: steel
Mooring Details:
At the moment the boat is moored long-term, on one of five moorings behind the London Canal Museum, in Battlebridge Basin/Ice Wharf on a pied a terre basis (ie: not your main residence) at £650 per month, inc. electricity and water. There is pump-out facility which can be reached without moving the boat, and laundry on site.
Please note: At some point over the coming years, one of the 5 moorings will be given up to make way for a Canal Museum historical boat, on a 'last in, first out' so although we have been there for so long, the new owner will be the 'last in' unless one of the other boats moves, so our boat is being sold at 'boat only' price. The present mooring agreement can be transferred to a new owner and it will include a one month notice period to move if the Museum gives notice.
Negotiating with the future plans of the Canal Museum will be up to the new owner if they want to stay in King's Cross.
