The Regalia
Vessel type: Hopper barge, converted into a 3-deck bar and restaurant
Date of build: Approx. 1980, converted to a bar in the late 1980s
Dimensions: 34 x 7 x 3.05m depth, 0.76m draught
The Regalia is a three-deck former bar and restaurant converted from a flat-hulled hopper barge in the 1980s. Originally moored at Swan Pier in central London it operated as a highly successful venue until it was moved from Swan Pier in 2012 to a swing mooring. This was due to the land being developed and the original mooring being removed.
The superstructure is a steel frame with steel panelling. The inside and outside are covered by protective GRP cladding which has a wood look effect. Two staircases access the top deck and bottom deck from the middle and two additional staircases access the bottom deck to the outside. On the middle deck, there are large windows throughout, and the bottom deck has windows on both sides, however, the port side windows were damaged by a pontoon.
The Regalia was purchased in 2019 to be refurbished into an events space and hospitality location and had a UST survey (available on request) which showed the hull in good condition and thickness throughout. New tow rings were welded to the bow with wire bridles and shackles.
The boat was then towed to the Medway in 2020 for full refurbishment. However, due to COVID lockdowns in 2020, these plans were delayed and are now cancelled.
Conversion works have not been started and since 2020 the boat has been maintained. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a craft with immense potential to become an outstanding houseboat, holiday home rental or return to a thriving hospitality venue.
