A new yacht has prompted the sale of our beloved Irwin 34 Citation ‘Halo.’ Built in 1984 by renowned designer Ted Irwin, whose innovative designs blend luxurious accommodation and easy sail handling in a fast hull. The Irwin philosophy was simply to build a good boat for the money - make her stylish and fast - stable and comfortable.
Originally named Papagayo she has an interesting history, as researched via the Irwin Owners Group… She was sailed on the Gulf and East coast of Florida and used as a ‘live aboard’ until 2005… Then in 2010 sailed short-handed across the Atlantic and sold into new ownership... From 2010 to 2015 a period of topside upgrade works saw the mast and full rigging replaced into an ‘in mast’ main and furling genoa.. A new Yanmar 20hp was installed soon afterwards.
We acquired the yacht in 2021 and lifted her out of the water for works undertaken by professional marine engineers and shipwrights… Schedule Below
Halo has undergone serious refurbishment to the accommodation, which now makes for a very comfortable live aboard opportunity. Much of the dark wood panelling has been covered by ivory acrylic, which contrasts with the original cherry wood finishes. 12v LED lighting provides a warm and pleasing ambiance. Pressurised Hot & Cold water together with new shore power circuitry, and a protective consumer unit that independently isolates Battery charging, water heating, fridge and sockets ensures safe electrical distribution.
An upgraded heads now encompasses a fixed shower and acrylic panelling. New ‘Jabsco’ head, countertop and sink were installed in 2022.

The spacious cockpit has a renovated folding deck saloon table and new cushions, which give comfortable sunbathing and dining. The Helm has a large wheel giving excellent visibility forward at all wind angles. New warps, fenders and fender socks give excellent protection from all elements.
Below decks the current owners have completed the following works:
New Galley work surfaces, and chart table removed to accommodate a 65L fridge (240v and 12vdc) with extended work surfaces above. Clothing storage shelving ‘crafted into the forward cabin (vee berth) Pilot Berth currently used for storage and the water heater, but this could be relocated if required.
Last surveyed in 2011 the decision to sell has postponed the owners deciding to have a new survey and it is the responsibility of interested parties to make their own arrangements in this regard..
Halo still has some works ongoing that will be completed prior to sale..
Interested parties should study the photographs, consider the works that have be completed and the value presented in this yacht. There will sure to be further works as time progresses, but the current owners have spent £000’s creating a very comfortable sailing yacht with liveaboard accommodation.
The berth at RWY is NOT included in the sale, however the current owners could possibly assist in finding a new berthing solution and offer some flexibility to the new owners.
