A 14’L x 6’B x 1’d open clinker-built launch built by Watercroft of East Mosley (suppliers to the Admiralty) with a celebrated inboard 4HP Stuart Turner (of Henley) P5MD petrol engine with electric Dynastart, complete with road-launch trailer, boat cover, and auxiliary equipment. A modern ‘kill-cord’ was installed following its purchase in 2012.
In 2002 the boat was stripped back to bare wood and the engine removed so the oak keel, ash frames and mahogany hull and interior could be inspected. Any suspect wood was replaced with ‘period’ timber before the hull was treated with Deks Olja oil, and relevant internals with varnish. A new oak keel was fitted, and planks were re-rivetted. The engine was totally rebuilt and the trailer refurbished and re-entered service in 2004.
Recently the boat, trailer and engine have been refurbished following its use to train young people. In August 2016 the engine was stripped down and examined by a Stuart Turner specialist. New parts and additional refurbishment were completed in May 2017, including a further application of Deks Olje boat oil on the hull. Boat is in secure depository storage, but can be viewed with sufficient notice.
This is a beautifully balanced easy to launch and handle classic boat attracting admiration and critical acclaim by many, and especially suitable for river, canal and lake cruising.
