Description

RANCER is a Nicholson 31 bult by Camper and Nicholson and designed by Raymond Wall . She was built in 1976 to the Mark 1 specification , the major feature being her all lead ballast keel design . Great care was taken during her design and construction to ensure safety and comfort whilst at sea , both above and below decks .

Accommodation

Forward cabin with double vee berth and infill . Overhead storage cupboards and full length shelves to port and starboard . Steps below an opening CANPA hatch . Sail locker stowage bins under bunks .
Sliding door to heads . To port a BLAKES LAVAC marine toilet and storage cupboard . To starboard , original washbasin with cold water tap , with storage cupboard above with mirrored doors and storage cupboard below .
Sliding door to main cabin . Keel stepped mast with adjacent CANPA opening hatch . Central folding table . To port , single berth with three outboard storage cupboards behind hinged upholstered backrests . GRP storage boxes below bunk . Above and outboard is a pilot berth . To starboard , single berth with three outboard storage cupboards behind hinged upholstered backrests . GRP storage boxes below bunk .Above berth a storage cupboard and a drinks locker . Going port aft is the galley area , with double ss sinks and cold water tap , with FIAMMA aqua electric pump . New gimballed NEPTUNE 4500 LPG cooker with oven and grill with emergency shut off valve , Original coolbox unit in passive mode .Going starboard aft is the navigation chart table with storage under and adjacent cupboards . With Clock , Barometer , VHF radio and GPS unit , Going aft is a quarter berth . Finally steps to the cockpit hatch .

Construction

GRP hull , decks , and superstructure , with interior GRP modular units . All bulkheads fully laminated to adjoining structure .Fully encapsulated all lead ballast keel . GRP rudder fitted to transom and keel with tiller steering . All pintle/gudgeon units were removed , replated, and refitted in 2022 . Teak facings to bulkheads and doors , teak trim , and teak chart table .

Engine(s)

Major engine refit in 2014 . New BETA B30 with TMC Gearbox . Engine mounting feet and remote oil filter supplied by Beta . High rise exhaust elbow and anti syphon valve fitted to cooling water circuit . New pre filter and water separator for fuel line . New TELEFLEX single lever engine control and BETA ABV control display unit to cockpit . New VETUS cooling water filter installed in 2028 . Engine mounting feet replaced in 2025 . the adjacent battery compartment is fitted with two batteries , EXIDE EN750 (2020) , TYNA ER350 80AH (2014)
