1968 historic narrow boat fully working and equipped ready for a trip on the day of sale. Craycombe companion has had two owners. Built to his exacting specification in 1968 by Malcolm Braine the family travelled along most of the canals in England. This continued when a group of 7 friends bought her in 2017 taking turns to use Craycombe companion for trips in every region of the councty. At 45 foot long and 6ft 10 inches wide the boat was designed to travel widely.
Inside lined in wood and many cupboards she sleeps 6 in a double berth, two bunk beds and double pull out in saloon. Some of us travel with family, others as couple, or solo. Rear hatch with integrated water proof map cover, Saloon has direct access through double doors to bow well deck with roof, ideal for 2 or 3 to dine al fresco and perfect when under way and preparing for locks. Two porta potties in bathroom with shower and ceramic handbasin.. Boat safety certificate, new water heater in saloon fully compliant. Hot water for shower and kitchen. Fully eqipped kitchen with plenty of cupboards and small fridge/ freezer, good quality crockery etc Two gas rings and oven/grill. Stove in saloon warms radiators for winter trips.
Continuously used and maintained. Routine outside repainting outstanding - we do a bit every year. Possible mooring available in Oxfordshire.!7 years full record or maintenance and trips. Lister SR3 air cooled engine rebuilt in 1990's. Engine mountings rebuilt, full top service recently. New batteries for both domestic and engine starting. Weed hatch renewed in 2014, new stern gland in 2018 and more.
The original 7 are now ageing and what to find someone who wants to travel widely or perhaps a love aboard. The most is being sold with all its equipment, tools, soft furnishing, five sets of keys and if you want , tea bags etc. Once we have transferred the insurance cover you are free to go and enjoy this lovely boat as we have.
