Great little boat, reluctantly for sale, in current ownership for the past 10 years, well maintained and improved over that period with many upgrades including new mast, furler and standing rigging, new running rigging, new Mainsail, stack pack, fenders and seacocks.
Moored in Fisherrow Harbour, Musselburgh, just to the east of Edinburgh.
This Pegasus design is easy to maintain, rewarding to sail and benefits from tons of internal room for a boat of this size, even boasting standing headroom by the companionway. The accommodation is very flexible with a sliding galley which tucks away when not needed and a table which can be raised out of the way for maximum space underway or dropped to turn the starboard settee into a "double" berth.
She has an Mercury 5HP outboard in a well in the cockpit, this is a superior set up to mounting on the stern as the engine continues to drive even in large swell and with the water flow directly onto the rudder, she is instantly manoeuvrable. A big advantage of the outboard is easy access to the prop, catching a rope around the prop is easily rectified, the engine can be removed for maintenance or for security and if the worst comes to the worst is much easier and cheaper to replace than an inboard engine.
Rebel Rebel is the first yacht I've owned after a lifetime of dinghy sailing and crewing on other boats, it was a great boat to step into as a first time skipper. I've really enjoyed owning Rebel Rebel and found her the perfect boat for exploring the Firth of Forth, she takes everything the river throws at her in her stride, reefs well and remains balanced, is always light on the helm and responsive even in a F6 and in a drifter she is often the only boat still moving. I've enjoyed club racing in Rebel Rebel, travelling to loacl regattas and she has been very successful in that regard, she finds her groove easily and gives great feedback, very enjoyable to sail. Her bilge keels open up all the drying harbours on the East coast and allow easy maintenance.
Having built my confidence as a skipper and boat owner I'm now looking at moving to a larger boat with more room for my family but I'll be looking for a boat with all the same attributes as Rebel Rebel.

Forepeak can be arranged as a bed providing a further 2 berths for children. Once you remove the cushions it functions as the heads with sink.
Clever arrangement with sliding stove, can be stowed under the cockpit to maximise room, easily pulls out when needed. Gas is in the rear starboard locker. 2 hob Plastimo Neptune 2000 gas hob with grill. Kettle, cutlery, pots included.
The yacht is constructed of GRP having bonded in frames, bulkheads and lockers to give her stiffness.
Cast iron bilge keels
All the old antifoul was removed and faired in 2013, the hull is cleaned, sanded, faired and repainted each season.
The keels have been faired, treated with rust stop primer and epoxy, with improvements made over the period of ownership.
The topsides are regularly cleaned and polished and the boat looks well.
The deck is has a moulded non slip surface, the deck / hull joint is covered by an alluminium and rubber rubbing strake.

Mercury 5hp 4 stroke outboard - 1999 reliable, serviced by owner each winter. Positioned in a cockpit well which is preferable to positioning on the stern as it is driving even in large swell and pushes water directly over the rudder, making her instantly manoeuvrable.
I learnt to service the outboard myself and did so annually, can supply spare impellor and fuel filter, engine oil, gearbox oil and special pump and fitting to refill the gearbox oil. Its pretty simple and its good to know your engine in case of issues.
A massive advantage of the outboard is if you catch a line around your prop, you can simply raise the engine and detangle in minutes. If there is an engine issue, you can take it home or to the workshop and get it sorted between sails.
