Mochyn Du (ex Minestrone) is a restored quarter tonner.
Designer Jac de Ridder (Van der Stadt family and many well-known boats to his name)
Built 1975 in Poole by George Stead (Southern Ocean Shipyards).
Formerly a Mast-Head Rig and rescued by Rupert Holmes (PBO) and was featured as a PBO project boat in 2009/10.
3 times competitor in Quarter Ton Cup
3 years as a project boat since 2015 - launched this spring.
New, heavier, keel - moved aft to original de Ridder specs
New mast and boom - 7/8th rig - Selden, twin spreader, excellent condition, keel-stepped, foot moved forward to the original de Ridder fractional specs.
New Rudder - spade, transom-hung, ash tiller, spinlock extension
Sails - black laminate One Sails - used only a handful of times and in 'as new' condition and shape.
Main with one reef, loose-footed.
2 x non-overlapping foresails - No1 and flatter/heavier No2.
Storm jib - all hanked.
Immaculate new Hyde AP kite and launch bag.
All new standing and dyneema running rigging, Selden spi pole ends, lightweight, unbreakable 2 x refurbed/serviced Barlow 20 2-speed winches, harken tracks/blocks,
All systems re-designed, fittings top quality Harken/Selden etc - kicker both sides, jib barber-haul (in and out) and spinnaker tweakers.

All extraneous weight removed leaving plenty of storage space for sails/engine and access to all fittings....which have been mostly replaced and-sealed.
New s/s O/B bracket - 3.5 Parsun 4-stroke - being serviced at present.
New hatches and windows fitted and re-sealed - boat now water-tight.

Early FRP - very stiff and and no damage - full structural survey this year - passed with flying colours - and checked for moisture in hulll......was dry as a bone

Completey different boat from previous incarnations - handles superbly - even with complete novice crew, have won races in Poole against proven oppositon. My work precluded her going to QTC.
Simple rib bulkheads and open-plan layout with wide beam make for lots of room down below and coachroof gives good head room. plywood and epoxy decks..... stays cool in hot weather heat and retains heat in winter.
Bunks can convert to a double bed!
Yard cradle also available.
Only selling (very reluctantly) as I have had to move job and she is no longer required as a week-day 'bed-sit' - and wife wont let me have 2 boats back in Wales! A very cheap way into the exclusive QT circuit.
