Completely refurbished inside and out with new engines and navigation gear and recently re-rigged, this exceptional cruising catamaran gives the spacious, safe and stable sailing experience of a catamaran, but without the 6-figure price tag.
This is a remarkable small sailing catamaran with a huge interior for a yacht of this length - and of course you pay marina fees by the metre length, so you gain a lot of accommodation while minimising your outgoings. She has been completely upgraded over the last few years and is ready to sail. This is a complete package in excellent conditions throughout - essentially everything you need to go sailing next week!
The boat is in Deganwy marina on the Conwy Estuary in North Wales, but I can either deliver it (by sea) or help you sail it around to wherever you might want to base it in the UK or Ireland. Any inspection and a test sail is most welcome of course – she is currently afloat.

There can be few 24-foot (7.3m) yachts that can accommodate 6 people overnight in 2 double berth aft cabins (one in each hull), with a further 2 berths available in the bridge deck saloon, which serves as a U shaped settee during the day around a central table. She has a sizeable galley in the starboard hull with plenty of cupboard and shelf storage, a stainless steel sink & drainer with 12V pumped water supply and a gas hob, grill & oven and worktop space. The port hull has a chart table with storage below and a separate heads compartment with a modern electric flush sea toilet and sink unit. The pumped water system is supplied by twin 50 litre tanks. There is full standing headroom (probably near 7ft) in both hulls, to the galley, aft cabins, heads and chart table area. The bridge deck saloon has sitting headroom around the table and settees.

Designed by renowned catamaran designer Derek Kelsall and built to a high specification by Solaris yachts in the UK, in the days when fibreglass was built to last. All white GRP construction. The hulls were epoxied below the waterline from new, so there is no risk of osmosis. There are two long fixed stub keels, providing good windward sailing capability, but with a draught of only 0.65m. Both the primary engine and the rudder lift, so she can take the ground in suitable conditions, allowing you to get close in on a sandy beach and explore places few yachts can reach.
A Lewmar V700 eletric windlass has been professionally fitted and the anchor uprgraded to an ultra reliable Rocna anchor with 60m of calibrated chain. The windlass can be operated by crew on the foredeck, or can be operated from the remote control at the helm. There is an additional Danforth type kedge anchor in the foredeck chain locker.
The yacht has been extensively rewired professionally, adding a leisure battery separate from the engine starter battery and both are kept charged and tip top by a saloon roof mounted solar panel. She has numerous electrical outlets throughout the boat, both in 240V for shore power and 12V for at sea, with all lighting upgraded to LED. There are numerous USB sockets so your crew / family charge all their devices at any time. I also added twin electric automatic bilge pumps - one in each hull.
For going ashore, there is a genuine Zodiac C240 inflatable dinghy, with large diameter tubes, solid transom with outboard bracket, oars, seat and seat bag. It's a roll up design, packing into a carry case which has always been dry stored inside the catamaran so its in excellent condition.
Navigation equipment and instruments have all been upgraded, with a 7" hybrid touch Raymarine chart plotter at the helm running Navionics charts. I also added a Raymarine Evolution autopilot which controls the boat beautifully through the hydraulic wheel steering. Also at the helm is a waterproof DSC VHF radio and a Fusion MS-RA55 stereo with cockpit speakers and Bluetooth connection so you and your guests can stream your favourite tunes. The ships compass has been replaced with a Plastimo Contest. Water depth, boat speed, wind speed and wind direction are provided by the NASA clipper system. Navigation lights, the masthead Tricolour and the anchor light have been upgraded to LED to reduce power consumption.
Engines are always a concern, but not on Discovery. Small cruising cats are best powered by a 9.9HP four stroke, long shaft outboard in a well between the hulls, and the king of such engines is the Yamaha high thrust, which I had fitted new and has less than 30 hours use since fitting and professionally serviced. It is electric key start and remote throttle at the helm and I also upgraded to the power tilt model, so that it can be tilted up out of the water while sailing for a little extra speed. It has an integrated freshwater flush system and has been flushed after every outing. Also on board is a Tohatsu 6HP 4 stroke ultra long saildrive outboard, that is deliberately oversized for the Zodiac tender, so that it may also act as an auxiliary engine for the yacht if needed, mounted on a transom bracket, and stored securely on a pushpit bracket when not in use. This has rarely been used but I start and run it monthly and it has been professionally serviced. It probably has less than 10 hours on it from new.
She is a sloop rig, with fully battened mainsail, with stack pack and lazy jacks. She has a Selden Furlex roller reefing jib sail. Both sails are in good condition. There is also an asymmetric cruising chute with snuffer which works well downwind on this yacht. She has been professionally re-rigged (standing and running rigging) and rigged with multi coloured lines that all run back to the cockpit, including reefing lines for the main sail. This means she is very easy to sail single or shorthanded, without leaving the cockpit. All lines run through a bank of labelled clutches and a halyard bag keeps everything tidy and ship shape on deck. There are self tailing winches for the halyards and jib sheets.
The yacht has a Seago Cruiser 4 automatic liferaft, a horshore lifering with floating automatic light, an auto inflating danbuoy and a coastal flarepack. A waterproof DSC VHF radio is installed at the helm and there is also a handheld VHF. There are 4 auto inflating life jackets with D rings and 4 lifeline tethers. The 4 corners of the boat have well secured stainless steel pulpit and pushpit rails, that support the guard wires around the full perimeter of the boat. There are cabin top grab rails for going forward and grab handles in the cockpit. The depth sounder has an alarm set at 3m below the keel. There is a radar relfector mounted high on the mast and there is an emergency tiller.
