A beautiful example of this Classic 1974 Sparkman and Stephens S+S Sagitta 35
Well maintained and upgraded, this vessel has been used for local club racing, family cruising and deep offshore passage making. Those familiar with the Sagitta design will know that they are a fast, seaworthy boat with a history of circumnavigation.
This Sagitta 35 was built in Denmark in 1974, sails really well upwind and is an exceptional sea boat, all trademarks of the legendary Sparkman and Stephens design (#2008).
She was built as a racer /cruiser in 1974 and is a beautiful well-proportioned boat with a spacious cockpit. The Sagitta 35 is easy on the eye and offers a fabulous, solid sailing performance. A rare classic not often on the market in the UK so an opportunity not to be missed for those who lean toward traditional yachts of the 70’s and 80’s.
This Sagitta 35 offers a fin keel, tiller steering, and a Volvo Penta engine (2030).
She was re-rigged in 2023 and has slab mainsail reefing and harken headsail furling, her main and genoa are 2016 and 2024.
This Sagitta 35 can sleep 6 in a double and four single berths.
Slamat has been in her current ownership for 9 years and has been lovingly restored and maintained during that ownership; she has sailed extensively including around the UK and Ireland, down to Portugal, around the Canaries, Cape Verde, Azores and returned to the UK in 2024. She is reluctantly for sale as cruising plans have changed.
This Sagitta 35 had an osmosis treatment by the previous owner and was sand blasted, skimmed and copper epoxied in 2017. She has been well cared for and has silver spray hood, sail covers and Bimini with matching side / rear panels. She is VAT paid and has all the supporting paper work. Slamat is currently ashore, having had all 2024 winter / spring 2025 works complete and is ready to launch and go sailing again.
Launching late Feb 25,...yard need the space... so if intrested book a viewing or survey now while out of the water ...

Slamat is a fast cruiser, regularly covering 160 miles a day offshore.
Having cruised with family in Ireland, France and Atlantic Islands Slamat has proved easy to sail, reliable and resilient, providing all the comforts on passage, at anchor or in a marina, sailed with crew or many miles singlehanded.
Walking through, she has anchor locker and chain storage forward. Comfortable Double V berth with hatch allowing good ventilation, book shelves, reading lights and plenty of storage. Heads follow with sink and storage to port, and hanging locker to starboard. The saloon has a folding table and settee benches which can pull out offering wide berths on both sides. Plenty of storage is available both under the berths and behind the back rests. There are cupboards, book shelves and a bar to starboard, with a pilot berth to port. This is currently used as a book shelf and as an area for general storage behind a lea cloth. The Galley is to starboard with fridge, sink, drawers and storage, and the chart table with instruments, tool drawers etc is to port. There is a lovley quarter berth aft, with hatch, shelf and additional large stowage area.
The Volvo Penta 2030 engine is fresh water cooled, well maintained and reliable. 2 X 105a house bank feed the daily requirements with a separate engine start battery. 120w solar with Victron mppt regulator maintains the batteries with low usage while the engine alternator or shore power mastervolt charger provide bulk power. Battery changing and monitoring is controlled by a Merlin smart monitor with voltage and percentage digital display. Shore power is provided by dedicated cable and deck fitting to 2 x internal power sockets. In the marina an electric kettle, toaster and blow heater can be used for convenience.
Wind depth and speed are displayed via ST50 instruments, relayed to the Vespa AIS transponder and all data broadcast wirelessly to tablet or phone. There is an onboard chart plotter as backup, fixed VHF radio and Navtex for weather offshore. 2 x tactical compasses located in the cockpit help with windward work and identifying wind shifts. Analogue clock and barometer are on the forward bulkhead.
The tiller helm is direct on the rudder stock giving a great feeling between helm and boat. Being easily stowed it allows the full use of the cockpit with or without varnished cockpit table, cushions etc. A large lazarette stows all needed items comfortably including cleaning items, warps, fenders, spare lines, boat hook etc. The cockpit is well protected by a new (2022) sprayhood. Sun protection under sail or engine is by custom Bimini (2023) with detachable side and back for use at anchor. There is a salt water deck wash outlet in the cockpit with hose that reaches the foredeck. The Autopilot is a Ray marine tiller pilot, and winches are Anderson primary, Lewmar spinnaker and Lewmar and Anderson at the mast. Harken main track and detachable mainsheet in the cockpit.
The rig is a Proctor mast and boom with all new standing rigging and turnbuckles 2023. Forestay with harken Mk3 twin groove roller furler, caps, lowers, baby stay and backstay with tensioner. Running rigging has been replace on an ongoing basis, some new 2024, others older but all serviceable.
There is a brand-new genoa at 105% which has not yet been used (2024). This is a triradial cut with foam luff, UV protected stitching and silver UV strip. Other foresails include a laminate 100% No1 a laminate 90% No2 a Dacron 50% , No3 and some older larger sails which are in stowage. There is a cruising chute in a sock and symmetric spinnaker (spinnaker pole secured on deck) Mainsail is made by Neil Pryde (2016) and in good condition. Storm jib and Trysail stowed onboard.
Previous refits have seen the hull shot blasted and faired. Multiple layers of Copper epoxy applied as base coat (2017), with the current antifouling being a copper based hard (Nov 2024). The keel bolts have been removed, inspected and replaced (2017). The old mild steel mast base has been removed and replaced with a vacuum bagged composite replica (2017). The traditional mild steel hull stiffeners were removed and the areas reinforced with a hybrid composite mix of carbon, unidirectional and biax cloth with epoxy (2017). At the same time the mast was rewired with a new tricolour, VHF and AIS aerial and strobe (2017). Later refits include new batteries (2021) battery management systems, new electronic navigation systems new transducers, electrical switching, all led light replacement, new navigation lights and deck painting and other items.
Currently ashore (Nov 24) she has had an engine service, new cutlass bearing, and is freshly antifouled, ready to launch and go sailing again. If you wish to view or survey there is an opportunity to save haul fees, however the yard has indicated she may have to move back to her mooring soon.
