Description

Zelda has been in my ownership since 2021. I've sailed her mainly on the south east coast and moored on the river Deben. She is a solid, quick, comfortable, and reliable boat.

In 2023/4 she was professionally reappoxied by Larkmans Boatyard and was thoroughly dried out in their workshop over winter. An electric Lewmar windlass was also fitted at the same time.

In my ownership Zelda has been wintered ashore annually under PVC cover with mast off and regularly serviced by a marine engineer.

I am selling because I no longer have the time to properly maintain her and go sailing.

Accommodation

The accommodation is a warm and comfortable space. It offers up to 7 berth in 2 cabins with good headroom thoroughout, up to 6'3" in saloon.
Forcabin offers a large V berth with infill to form a double, stowage beneath (room to put a holding tank), hanging locker, shelves, port lights and opening hatch to foredeck.
Separate heads to port with marine toilet, washbasin with manually pumped cold water supply, port light and storage cupboard.
Saloon consists of settee berths on either side of a fixed table with drop leaves. The port berth converts to a double, there are solid leeboards and storage beneath, behind and eye level lockers and shelves. Ample storage!
The galley aft to starboard is a U shape with Nelson gimballed stainless steel 2 burner gas cooker with oven and grill in very good condition. There is a refrigerated cool box which can run directly off shorepower or engine through batteries, plenty of storage in a range of cupboards and draws.
Chart table & quarter berth aft to port with instrumentation and further storage. The quarter berth is a large single or cosy double.
The interior fitted out in teak and comfortable cotton upholstery with matching curtains.

Construction

Westerly Fulmar built by Westerly Marine Construction in 1980 to a design by Ed Dubois is a solidly built GPR hull superstructure and non-slip painted decks. Twin cast iron keels, tiller steering to spade hung rudder, self draining cockpit, teak rubbing strakes and toe rails.

Equipment

Electrical systems comprises of separate domestic and engine batteries charged by alternator reconditioned and upgraded in 2019. Adverc battery management system. Shorepower system with ring mains and battery charger. Electric distribution panel with inverter and full cabin lighting.
Deck equipment: CQR type anchor with chain & warp, electric lewmar anchor winch, Bruce kedge anchor, stainless steel boarding ladder, midship cleats, outboard stowage bracket on pushpit, upgraded pushpin stainless steel guard rails, many fenders and warps.

Engine(s)

Mechanical: Bukh DV20 20hp engine in very good condition serviced annually. Starts immediately the key is turned and has never let me down. It was last serviced/winterised autumn 2025. Zelda was not lifted in for the 2026 season.

Sails & Spars

Fractionally rigged sloop with proctor anodised aluminium mast & boom. Spinnaker pole & rope kicker. Stainless steel standing rigging new in 2018. Teryline running rigging renewed when required, slab reefing mainsail with lazy jacks and stackpack. Rotostay headsail furling system. 2 lewmar 40 sheet winches, 2 lewmar 40 ancillary winches, 2 lewemar 16 halyard winches.
Fully battened mainsail - Owen - good. Furling Genoa - Owen - good with new UV strip 2025. Spinnaker - good.
Stackpack and spray hood refurbished 2025. New clear plastic window fitted to spray hood 2025.
