The Southerly 100 is a Dick Carter design, one of the few really shallow draught modern yachts available. She has a pilot house with interior steering, and a cast iron ballast plate protecting the keel and bottom when grounding. We sold this yacht to the present owner over 10 years ago, and since then he has very comprehensively upgraded and equipped her. She is for sale now only for the owner's health reasons. Norman James is a Southerly 110 (hull #60), built by Northshore in 2006. These comfortable and well-built boats have a hydraulically lifted keel operated from the helm, reducing the draft to 0.7m and allowing the boat to be beached on the cast iron grounding plate.
