Albin Ballad Kotuku,
Designed by Swedish designer Rolf Magnusson, the Albin Ballad was a hugely successful production cruiser-racer yacht with over fifteen hundred being built by Albin Marine in Sweden. The Ballad is a well-balanced, easily sailed yacht and was ahead of her time in many ways. Sleeping 5 or 6 in the fore cabin and saloon, she has a practical interior with everything you need for family cruising and competitive racing.
Kotuku is the mk2 version of the Ballad class. Sail number 1478 built in 1980.
She was sailed to Hythe in England from Sweden in 1986. She had a change of ownership in 1991 and sailed to her new home in Fowey, Cornwall. She raced very successfully in the Ballad national championships and local sailing clubs for 20 years.
In 2012 She was sailed to the Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland to her new owner. She was then moved to Douglas before coming back to Fowey in 2017, where She was lightly restored to her former condition. She has raced in Fowey very successfully since, winning the Fowey to Falmouth race, twice, in her class and the Autumm series. In the 50th anniversary Ballad national championship (2022) She came 2nd overall.
