Larkspur is a beautiful 38ft Narrowboat with a cruiser stern. I have had an incredible 7 years on board and am only selling because I am moving to Berlin. She’s enabled me to work full time as an artist and she’s become a bit of a work of art in herself! She is fully set up for cruising with solar panels and battery monitors etc - I usually cruise her on the Lea, around London and the Grand Union but she's also been on adventures up the Thames, the Nene and the Middle Level Navigation.
She is powered by a BMC 1.5 engine with a brand new exhaust, starter motor and alternator. The engine has benefited from a lot of work, including copper instead of plastic fuel lines, updated wiring, etc.
Entering from the stern, you find a bed room with a raised (very comfortable) queen-sized bed with hanging wardrobe space by the door and plenty of storage space and drawer space under the bed.
Walk on into the kitchen which has a very efficient Waeco 12 v fridge/freezer, a sink with mixer taps and a filtered water tap, and a Vanette gas cooker, with four hobs, a grill and an oven. There’s a long work surface under the window and plenty of cupboard space.
Behind that is a newly refitted bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin and Thetford Cassette toilet.
To the front of the boat is the living space with a Morso Swift stove fit in 2015, plenty of shelves for books, a bespoke desk and a fitted sofa bench with handmade covers.
240 plug fittings throughout the boat and 12v plugs by the desk.
The outside bow space is a beautiful place to have breakfast or watch the world go by when cruising, benches and water tank under the deck.
Maple wood flooring throughout the boat.
Hot water is provided by a Morco water-heater, which runs on gas. There is space for 2 gas bottles in a gas locker on the back deck.
Built in 1979, she was last out of the water and blacked in May 2020. Her current safety certificate is valid until 2021. She was surveyed when she was out of the water and found to be in great condition with some borderline overplating recommended around the stern. The survey was done at P&S Marine in Watford and I have a quote from the yard for the work, which will be reflected in the sales price.
Larkspur is on the Grand Union at the moment near Berkhamsted, heading back towards London.
